Welcome to the Stamford Public Education Foundation
Our programs are aligned with the Strategic District Improvement Plan and include:
Literacy through Libraries: In keeping with the Stamford Public School's effort to standardize the literacy curriculum, the Foundation runs the Classroom Libraries Program which helps ensure that elementary school students in Kindergarten through 2nd grade have access to the full library of at least 500 unique titles per year they need to become avid, life-long readers.
Literacy through Corporate Partnerships: The Foundation coordinates volunteer activities for over 160 corporate volunteers who meet one-on-one with local elementary school students to help them build literacy skills, develop a love of reading and complete their homework.
Mentorship and College Readiness: In order to achieve success, students must feel connected, supported and challenged. The Stamford Mentoring Program has grown since its launch in February 2010 and now connects 150 students in sixth through ninth grade with college and corporate mentors to help the students to transition successfully into high school, understand the need to take rigorous courses and to increase the chance of their graduating ready for college or a career.
Naviance: All students, parents and guidance counselors at Stamford High, Westhill High and AITE now have access to the latest version of Naviance, an online college selection and application program made available through a donation from the JPMorgan Chase Foundation.
GE Foundation Developing Futures Conference: The Stamford Public Education Foundation is honored to be chosen, year after year, as a partner in this extraordinary nationwide initiative to improve math, science and language arts instruction.
